Personal Collection

My career as an artist spans almost 50 years. From the very beginning I have collected my own work and it is housed here in a separate gallery. I have decided to sell many of these works. They include one-of-a-kind pieces, the first of numbered editions (from dog carvings to many birds and other animals) and a general mix of pieces I simply have not wanted to part with until now.

Many of my works have a deep rich patina acquired only with age. Others capture a particular time or place. All are special. They are priced separately from similar work, show little wear or have been fully restored. All are guaranteed for my lifetime.

Special packages may be available to museums and collectors.

Chicken Family

Chickens are a logical choice for a bird carver to make and in 1987 I drew and made my first. I had learned a more delicate touch with the chainsaw, realizing it could also be used as a finishing tool. Those days were some of my most inventive. I’ve made a lot of chickens since.

Swans

These are Mute Swans. I made them because they were birds I knew, were classic in form and easily recognized.

Three early dogs

These are my first attempts at dog carvings. They are more primitive and reflect on a time in my career when I was even less sophisticated and more in touch with simplistic line.

The Dalmatian "Charley" (named for a reason I no longer remember) was made in 1987 and is the #1 in a series that still continues; I have done 292 to date.

Hamilton Hound #1 (1987) and Hamilton Hound puppy #55 (1992) are also early primitives. After years of perfecting these breeds and seeking to encapsulate the personalities of people's specific pets, I had kept these originals to reflect on less serious times.

They have been carefully restored and are ready for a loving family.

Dalmatian 27” $850

Hamilton Hound 20” $650

Hamilton Hound 12” $450
